Sweet!
Hey everyone. Just thought I'd post a short video showing my Neil Peart mid 80's era Tama drumkit miniature. I made this completely out of scratch materials found around my home.
I started building it in '86 when i was in college, completed it in about a year. Had it displayed til it got dusty and the glue become old. Took it apart and threw it in a shoebox till 2008 when me son urged me to rebuild it!!

Domenic, that is a work of art! You have quite a talent! Is it made completely from scratch?

Well it took me about 4 times looking over that vid to realize the kit was a miniature. I couldn't understand what you meant about miniature when I first saw the vid.
That is amazing.
Signature here
The miniature is made from any size cylindars i can find around the house.....without spending too much money (shampoo bottle lids, Aerosol can lids). For cymbals, I used apple juice can lids, for hardware I used wooden shish kabob skewers and toothpicks all wrapped in chrome muffler tape. for mounts i used modeling clay. For the lugs, i cut out plastic ceramic tile spacers. for chimes i used sewing needles, all individually hung with string so they actually "chime" For crotales, I used thumb tacks with the point cut off. For heads i used red film that you find on 3D glasses.
If you look behind me on my YouTube drum vids, you can see the model in my trophy case. Sometimes it's spinning, other times it's just stationary.

Absolutely amazing Domenic! Such detail! Definitely a work of art!

Complete with the Grace Under Pressure logos. I applaud your talents. That really is amazing and the detail is spot on.
That is totally a masterpiece. I bet some people would give you a pretty penny for that....Who knows maybe even Niel himself.
I agree with Bish when I first saw the pics of the video I did'nt quite understand the miniature part of it cause it looks like a full size with a real drummer. Once I started playing the vid that is when I saw what you meant. Great job man you should send a copy of it to Neal and see what he says. The drummer does not look like Neil though.
Gotta disagree. I thought the drummer looks a lot like Neil circa 1984. At 1:05 is a good example.
Mega Cool many times over.
What gave you the idea to try this? Was this your first?
Incredible Dom! Absolutely incredible!!!
Your time and attention to detail is outstanding!
What a great heirloom... Thanks for sharin'!
Q-Would you buy another one if it were stolen?
A-Well yeah... But, I'd probly turn into a homicidal maniac first!
Very nice Dom,when you described how you made it I went back and looked and i think its very kewl, also checked out your other vids very cool i enjyoed, thanks
Very clever idea! Your skills are amazing as well as the video you recently posted of yourself playing your kit! Thanks for sharing!
I thought I noticed a Neil Peart mini drum kit over on the left side of the screen when I was watching your videos on the thread that Dave created. (I thought it was the Snakes and Arrows tour kit).
That's so cool. Nice to see a close up video of it. Nice detailed work.
