Ants...

Now this may come across as a bit strange to everyone (like I'm not strange enuf as it is), but I gotta tell someone. This is classic!!
Everytime I sit outside in the back yard to trim my toe nails, as soon as they hit the ground the ants are all over them. They go absolutely nuts! I mean they're small ants and are dwarfed by the size of my "clippings", but they jump straight on them and drag them away. What the hell? What do they do with them? Do they eat them? Use them for building materials or load baring poles in their nest? Giant back scratchers? Funky modern furniture? What?
Has anyone seen this before? If so, please tell me what the hell is going on here....

Keratin is a form of protein, and, much as ants would scramble over your picnic lunch for food, so they scramble over your toenails. BTW, ants carry many times their own weight, as EddieV observed, to feed their larvae and build new tunnels...

Dont worry about me man.Ive eaten ants before.They dont taste like much but they are quite crunchy.They got into the Molasses I had on my pancakes once. Dont ever eat a Lady bug tho.I thought I dropped a peanut butter morsel onto the floor out of a cookie once and I found out right quick that wasnt what it was!(Some Lady bugs are tan) Squish one sometime and smell it.That smell is what they taste like.We have a cat that eats spiders but she wont eat Lady bugs and I dont blame her.This is all really mild.If I got really gross I would be banned for sure.I could make an Ethiopian go on a diet.
