Cool that your making the available space work for ya. My band play in whoever's living room, basement, wherever we fit in whichever bandmate's house we decide to practice at.
The recording interface and computer
The "expensive" microphone... I have three of these
The mic actually isn't that bad to be honest. It's mounted on a old music stand... It's on the other side of the room also so it picks up everything quite nicely. Everything sounds crystal clear through it. Ironically though, vocals come out a little on the soft side through it.
The acoustics are good, and the vox room has a good amount of natural reverb. It's about 12 feet x 5 feet x 8 feet (or 7), and it's really just used as a storage room in my house. It's got boxes upon boxes in it but there's no point in taking them out because there's no other place to put them.
I've got most of the studio planned out. I have a spot for amps (a corner that i'm estimating to be 5ft x 5ft as it leads into the vox room), I already have a couch, one of those long tables, and a drum set. I just have to get rid of the treadmill that's down there, two USB extenders (to get the mic , get a couple more mics (and a mixer, of course), but that'll come when I get a job because I can't afford quality microphones as of now.
I wish I could've gotten more pics but the basement/studio is realllly messy.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

Yeah I was running tests through the mics today and they didn't pick up so i was getting worried, but then i realized I was recording through a mic that was never there... Yeah, fixed that. I also fixed the mic sensitivity so vocals come out louder and are picked up a lot easier. Beforehand i would have had to stand right next to the mic and speak to it like i was talking to a crowd. Now i can stand 5 feet away and speak soft and it comes out perfect.
