My bass drum actually makes my floor tom resonate. I really like it because the extra tone makes my kit sound HUGE.
I was banging away on my kit today, and was starting to hear a weird sound on the big back beats. I big fat overtone is the only way to describe it. Turns out, my snare was causing my high toms to resonate (they are both tuned to the same pitch). Just something new and weird. Easily corrected with some re-tensioning.

Matt
My floor sometimes makes the other two racks go if I hit it hard enough, and unlike Matt's kit, it sounds bad...
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

My bass drum was causing my 12 inch tom to resonate pretty loudly. Had to tune the tom down.

I noticed if I ditch my stick bag which is usually draped around the base of my floor tom, I get much more tone and sustain from it but I like the bag where it lives.
camping foam for floor toms and packing, stick bag affecting resonance......you guys make me learn so much in just one thread!
