Keyholing - the after-effect of having a cymal (usually a crash) rub against the metal thread of the stand, which wears away the cymbal in that spot and creates a "keyholed" look. using cymbal sleeves is very important to avoid keyholing

Kick Drum---a misnomer for the bass drum which implies a certain leg motion used to play it that caused a market surge in large drum heads prior to the invention of the bass drum pedal. Anyone using such leg motion on someone else's bass drum usually has a death wish.

Newbie (drummer): Used to describe a general state of confusion often found in people approaching drumming for the first time.
Main symptoms are: drool, frantic Craigslist for-sale readings, steath visits to drum shops, and odd postings on music-oriented forums.

DRUM GLOSSARY / TERMS / DEFINITIONS

    Swish and Pang Cymbals

Both swish and pang have the upturned and flanged edge of a china cymbal, with a very small bell, a thin profile overall with little taper, and a relatively thick rim for their size and weight. Although principally ride cymbals, they can also serve as exotic crash cymbals,

The swish has a higher tone than the pang and is washier with a less pronounced ping, and this difference is accentuated as the swish is generally sold with rivets as a sizzle cymbal, while the pang is sold without rivets.
