Claws

The claws that pull the Bass drum hoop or rim along with a tension rod or T- handle tension rod to the lug to tighten or loosen the drum head for tuning.

Memory Lock/s

The memory lock or locks are used to hold place of position for easy future set up. Pictured here on a tom arm.

Butt Plate

Used to secure snare drum snare wires to the side of the snare drum opposite end of the throw off / snare strainer.

Snare Strainer or Throw Off

The strainer is a lever that engages or disengages contact between the snares and the head, and allows snare tension adjustment. If the strainer is disengaged, the sound of the drum resembles a tom because the snares are inactive.

Parallel Strainer

With a parallel strainer, one may set the tension on the wires of the snare drum separately on each end from how hard they're pressing against the bottom head, so when when releasing, both sides disengage in parallel while the tension is set but now not touching the head.

Flesh Hoop

A steel or wooden ring that secures the drum head to perimeter of the drum head collar:

Snare Beds:

Curved depressions that are cut opposite each other into the bottom bearing edge of a snare drum, parallel to the throw-off and butt plate. Even metal snare drums have bearing edges; newer ones have very gradual rolled-in snare beds, while the older ones have short, pressed-in beds. Snare beds ensure that the snares lie flat against the drumhead by pulling them into the head rather than letting them lay against it.

Spring/Roll Pins

A spring pin (also called tension pin or roll pin) is a mechanical fastener that secures the position of two or more parts relative to each other. Spring pins have a body diameter which is larger than the hole diameter, and a chamfer on either one or both ends to facilitate starting the pin into the hole.
