Does anyone here have much experience with pa systems?

I recently purchased a crown xti 2000 to run (soon as i could find some to purchase) Yamaha C115v's. Now i done more research i was looking into the jbl mrx range. I been looking at the 15 and the 12 inches.... I was eventually going to buy some sub woofers so i was guessing the 12's would be the way to go. but what does everyone else think?

Go with the 15's. They will have a much "bigger" sound.

yeah but they have a bigger sound because they have the bigger drivers... If i get subs they cater for that missing bit.

Id still want the 15's to push enough air to fill your mid and highs.

back when i managed a hiresshop my fave sound was
    ribbon tweeter over \
    2 inch horn over
    2 X 12 inch mids over
    2 x 18s

with speakers these days you can get as low with a 12 and you get a faster cone movement so a puncher sound
if your going to run subs i would go for the 12s for the punch and sweeter midrange
ive always found 15s to be muddy and less articulate when it comes to mids

Hmmm thats what i was thinking now im confused.... I think it will be awhile until i can have the subs so ill start with the 15s incase it doesnt eventuate. It would also be handy for small gigs. the mrx range is weird, they dont do 15" Wedges and the 12" is made for foh and wedge.

I think it would be nice to have the 18 15 horn tall speakers. less stuffing around setting up no stands etc. But thats pricey and prolly impossible to get cheap sent from america :P

The only reason a 15 would be muddy is if you didnt have enough power to push it.

Hey Stevo, I have a small PA system with Peavey PV115 for mains and PV118 for subs and two PR15's for monitors.

The PV115's and PR115's are powered by my Peavey XR8600 amp:

And the PV118's are powered by the Behringger 1500

And I have the mains and the subs crossed over with the dbx234 crossover:

The crossover has been a great tool which gives me the flexibility to dial out the some low frq. response if I find them to be driving the mains too hard. This little PA comes in handy if I want to mix a small group of vocals with limited channels on the drums or I can submix my entire 5 pc acoustic kit if a larger PA and SE (sound engineer) is used.

The Yamaha DTXpressIII e-kit sounds killer through the entire PA too. The subs make the kick sound like cannons.

    I already brought this.

    That's whats gonna process it.

Whats interesting about the xti is you plug it into the computer and program it to what speakers you are going to use. And it has been made to use with jbl speakers. I'm guessing even if i got the 15's and then programmed out a lot of the sub it would still be powerful enough to drive a decent sound out of them

I'm thinking that without that amp.
and as for fold back.... Still in question.
