    My name is Paul.

I am 28 years old. I bought my first drumset five years ago.

I play a Tama Superstar 7 piece, Ludwig snare and Paiste Rudes.

My favorite drummers are: Chad Sexton, Benny Greb and Andrea Vadrucci.

I am not in a band, but my wife plays the guitar, bass and piano. Sometimes we jam when the kids let us. Speaking of my wife, she is very cool. I bought my first drumset about a year after we got married and she has been very supportive of it.

I haven't seen many dead people, but I did see a dear get creamed by a semi last night.

    Aloha!

My name is Ryan and I'm new.

I'm 26. I've been playing drums since I was 14. There have been a couple of year long breaks in there though.

I currently play a 6 piece Gretsch Catalina Maple kit. (Fusion, amber finish)

I am in a band, "i am a rocketship." (I joined after the name was picked. ) We're an alternative/electronic band. We have a female singer. Think Muse meets Cardigans. The sound isn't 100% my flavor, but I'm a firm believer in finding 3 or 4 other bandmates you get along with and evolving into something you personally enjoy.

My influences include the regulars: Copeland, Bonham and Mitchell. But also HEAVY influence from Chad Sexton of 311.

Pleasure to be here! I've been sneaking around for awhile and finally decided to jump in!

There's the short version. Longer version. Started playing drums in school band. Did that on thru high school, started playing guitar and bass. Quit drumming, then after college quit playing guitar and bass (around 1990). Married, kids, work, etc.

About 4 years ago, was going to sell guitars, but kids wanted to have a go at them. The kids decided they wanted to play music. So we began the lessons, and I began to re-learn myself with them. Crashed motorcycle and broke wrist. Music was a good exercise to rehab the wrist.

So here we are. Started taking my son to blues jams when he was 7. We'd go play guitars and the boy took lessons. Now the has boy passed me by. He also took up bass, drums, and is currently taking piano lessons.

When we turned our little local blues society into a "real" band, I was the only real drummer and the worst guitar player. SO I'm back into drumming, although I still play more guitar than drums. I compose and arrange on guitar. And drums are "natural" to me, after all the years of school training where drums were my life. I'm probably not considered a good drummer, although I can keep the beat most of the time and sing and keep the beat too.

I'm not back there to be "fancy" in a blues band. Our drum kit is the bottom Ludwig (Accent 5 pc std) set, although way better than the "Royce" set I had in 80s. I left it in a friend's barn 15+ yrs ago.

No money for much new stuff at this point, so will propbably be spending a lot of time here trying to figure out how to get best sound out of what I have and looking for better used stuff as time goes by and can afford to upgrade.

Our household has quite a bit of gear, since we do play a lot. Besides the blues band, we also perform in a church band. So we own:

    Yamaha bass; Ibanez bass; Acoustic B100 bass amp;
Ludwig drums; paiste & sabian cymbals,
Fender MIM strat; Squier CV60s Strat; Peavey LTD strat like object; Squier telecaster; 1966 Fender Musicmaster; early 80's strat clone; Indiana Acoustic
    Roland keyboard; yamaha keyboard
Roland Cube 30 amp; Fender Superchamp XD amp; Peavey Decade amp
Carvin S400D small Powered Speaker for small PA or monitor use + mics and stands.

So we have to maintain and upgrade all of these as time goes by.

This looks like a great place to hang out and ask and learn.

    Randy

You are right about wishing I had them years ago, but up until now I really din't have the space or coin to get myself a set.
Most of my resources were spent just trying to survive and maintain a buzz. (Mighty tough as an under-employed individual.)
Now that I finally have a job that pays the bills with a bit leftover, I figured it was time to stop "air drumming" and get a kit

I like to play rock style drums and I like the heavyer stuff but also the things that make me groove and go into wonderland.

I don't really have a favourite drummer but I guess the skill level I aspire to be is my drum teacher who teaches privately but his full time profession is drumming for film scores and standing in for famous bands.

I'm in 2 bands headed under a rock programme led by a dedicated and talented musician. 1 band I can see going somewhere with our music if we step up a bit, the other one just makes alright experimental music xD

Do I see dead people? I study History if that counts :P

How did you find Drum Chat? I found it while googling "Drummers forum" didn't want pearl forum. I wanted to find where the real drummers were at
