But because its the first time I have ever thought about tuning the toms and floor tom, i am having trouble. Can anyone help me, give me suggestions on how to do it and etc...?

Conorrrrrrk, the best advise I can give you is to watch Bob Gatzen. This will get you started.

Bob's videos are very helpful. I'd also recommend starting there. Tuning takes time. And practice.

Used those videos to get started and also to refresh. Good focus sessions for base, snare, toms....

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

Hi Conorrrrrrk this is the basic start of tuning that I found works well on toms. Slacken off all the tension rods then finger tight them all on the batter head. From there take your key and give the rods exactly a 1/4 turn this will give you the lowest pitch for your toms. Once this is done go around tapping about an inch in from the hoop and adjust the tension till they sound the same all around. Same with the reso head but give it an extra 1/8 to 1/4 turn. This is how I tune my toms and they sound nice loud and warm. From here you can go up 1/8 in increments till you get the sound you want. Hope this is not too complicated to understand. Good luck and let us know how you did.

I've gotta tweak my floor tom a bit today. We've got a gig this evening. I think it would be alright without any tweaking but I want it to sound awesome.

Gonna watch Bob's vids for a quick refresher.

when the snare is on, i will hit it but its too punchy and I dont really like it.
any suggestions on tuning them and making the sound nicer and less punchy?

maybe tighten both heads? that will give you a real crack sound. what kind of sound are you looking for exactly?
