    Default More Questions!

How do you know if you are in time when doing the press roll, which I can do (I think) but I’m not doing it with a metronome…….

Regarding triplets; when I do doubles the stick seems to bounce on the second stroke the faster I get, so I figured when doing triplets the stick would bounce a bit with the second and third stroke as well, right?

    Am I making sense?

I can't do either of those things, so I suck.

Probably could if I took the time to learn, but learning is boring lol.

You can't do a double stroke or buzz roll (press roll) Kev? I find that hard to believe!

I agree with you, learning can be boring but when you finally get something you've been working on for a while it feels GREAT!!!! I've been working on my doubles for some time now and I'm finally getting pretty good at them, I totally amazed myself. I'm wonderful!!! LOL At least I think so, I'm very proud of myself

I was under the impression that there really isn't any timing with the press roll as far as the strokes go. The duration of the roll is important, but the idea of the press roll is to just keep a constant buzz going for the duration of the note value of the roll. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, Please!!!

It's cool Kev don't worry about it. I think I've seen it in some of Neil Peart's videos, really commonly used.

I am sure you have, Neil is the man.

the new Drum magazine sure had a good article on him, and his new kit looks kinda similar to mine.

I use to play feild snare in a marching band for anzac days etc... Pretty much it would be a mixture of wrist and fingers trying to bounce the sticks as fast as i could go. I find it easier on the edge of the snare skin too. I use to be the fastest single stroke snare in the class :P
