They are pretty much what you would expect from a pinstripe head, with added warmth due to their coating. Whereas the clear versions are a tad brighter, you will be able to get a slightly lower sound from them. Be warned though, the coating will not last that long if you are a medium to heavy hitter.

The Rudiments
I have the coated pins and they do give a more controlled, damping with a fat, thumpy sound and I can confirm that the coating will start chipping almost the first day you play them. Strange thing is the bigger bass toms coated pin coating started the coming off process immediately but the smaller tom and floor tom still has very little chipping to occur and they have gotten the same amount of drumming??
I can also say that I had horrible ringing prior to the coated pins and with just one piece of moongell they now have just a touch of ring with open sound. I am satisfied with them and think you will be too. You may need another moongel piece on the reso side also to get more tone control.
