I really like the finish on my kit, it is a lacquered walnut stain over Ash wood. But man you can't get any prettier than those DW's, man I would love one of those.

    DDB,

Right now I'm agonizing over a choice between either a Gretsch "Deep Amber" or a Sonor "Natural Maple" finish. I love the lacquered, natural wood finishes, so I have to say that the finish on your ddrums is beautiful!

I would definetly go with the natural wood finish.

DDB, you're reading my mind. I'm definitely leaning that way right now. It comes down to whether I want to upgrade my hardware, or whether I want an additional floor tom. The deep amber Gretsch is a shell pack with the extra floor tom, while the Sonor is a natural maple with all the hardware. I really don't think I can really lose either way.

    Daemon,

Incredible finish and graining on those drums. I had read that vertical grain patterns was the current trend. Very nice!

I like sparkley finishes. Especially chrome/silver because on stage they change colours under the lights :> Way cool, And fade colours/marbel colours. I also really like obscure pictures over the drum kit.

Man 1DB, that just overloads my senses. Beautiful, but I don't think I could play that kit. I'd probably just stare at it!

Man DW makes the most beautiful kits ever, not to mention just really awesome drums, some day I am going to sell my arm and leg, take out a loan, and sell my car so I can have one.

RD, you sure have a way with words bro. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around a tree and a bass boat mating! Get away from me you pesky thought!

Ringo, wild set of drums! Not my cup of tea, but then if we all liked exactly the same drums, the drumming world would become very boring very fast! Hope you get them one day.

Yeah, the one thing you never want to do is mate a drum kit with a ski boat. If you do, everytime someone says "HIT IT" it drags you across the stage at 40 mph. Plus, it distracts the bassist to have to hold up the red flag every time you crash.

RD, I should have known that when we start trading witty comebacks, I don't even stand a chance. It's like you're dueling with an unarmed man! My hat's off to you, dude!

    Ah shucks!

Speaking of arms, how do you get a one armed JW out of a tree?

    Wave at him.

Seriously though, my experience with drum finishes has been that drums that look awesome up close may not be that impressive on stage. My boy has a set of DW's (7 piece) in black laquor with black hardware on a chrome rack system. It's just stunning up close. However, from a distance, onstage under the lights it's hard to even see his drums. His teacher, on the other hand, has an old Slingerland 5 piece in chrome that will just knock your eyes out under the lights. Up close the drums look pretty cool, but that old hardware looks rickety and overall it's not nearly as impressive as the DW's. I also think giant 80's style size toms look much cooler than smaller fusion toms, but I like the sound of fusions better.
