I'm looking for a bass head that will give me a deep dark sound like the ones i hear from the reverend and jordison.
which gives the more "metal" sound? the Evans EMAD or the Remo powerstroke? opinions please!!!

Ostinato is the way to go!
ive used both, unfortunately the powerstroke was on a cheap beginners kit but out of the two, EMAD which I am using at the moment.
so you suggest EMAD for a more darker tone?
Ostinato is the way to go!
yes but it also depends on the drums as well. the EMAD on the gretsch sounds darker than the powerstroke.
neither....aquarian superkick.
what's that?
Ostinato is the way to go!
I also vote for the aquarian Superkick - it thumps HARD and is rock solid.
' Up the Irons '
but is the sound it produces like an emad because i've heard an Emad once before.

very similar. but i think a little boomier.
I vote EMAD, I love the sound they produce, but it really is a matter of personal taste, there all good heads.
hey ddrum i gotta ask you.
what is the difference between the EMAD and EMAD 2

Good question, don't quote me on this, but I believe the EMAD is a single ply, and the Emad 2 in a double ply head, but I am not totally certain on this.Originally Posted by Ringo
Yes, DDB, that's correct. The EMAD is single ply, and the EMAD2 is double ply. Both with dampening rings.Originally Posted by ddrumbum
then i'll get the EMAD 2 for durability

Right on ringo, welcome to the Evans drumhead family.
hey ddrum what do you think about the G2 heads
Ostinato is the way to go!
Best on the market in my opinion, that is what I use and will always use.Originally Posted by Ringo
I use the Evans Emad II with the thicker ring of the 2 they provide and my bass drum (22"x19") has some serious thump. I tried the powerstroke and it just was'nt boomy enough. I also use the Evans bass drum muffler system and I switch my beaters from felt to hard plastic if I'm playing metal. With the Emad II being 2-ply, you don't have to put a kick pad on the head either.
