    Default Triggering custom sounds

I recently picked up a Simmons SD7PK electric kit to practice on, and I'd like to use the pads to trigger custom samples. Anyone know if this is possible with this kit, and how I would go about doing it?

What do you mean? Are you talking about importing some samples? The only way I know of is to get a computer, drum sampling software, midi capable interface, and connect it to your simmons module. Once it's hooked up, you can play with the sounds that the drum sampling software has instead of the simmons module. As a plus, you are also get to mix and process your sounds on your computer in the drum sampling software. If it requires it, an additional daw software program such as cubase/reaper/sonar will be needed to run alongside the drum sample software because it's not a standalone program in this case. You will need to plug your triggers into the midi module that goes into your computer, and a midi or usb cable may also be needed as well. There are certain drum modules that do not require this process, as they have usb for directly connecting to computer and importing new samples that way. One of these modules is the Alesis dm10, which sells for around 500usd. It's among the cheapest i've seen that offers usb connectivity.

The SD7 does have a usb interface for MIDI connectivity...I'll hook it up to my laptop--where the sounds I want are, anyway--and see how that goes. Thanks!
