Can I get a holla for an OCDP sticky? Not sure how many of us out there use them, but I do now, and I absolutely LOVE them.

I love the teardrop lug casings (not to mention the fact that they are offset across the drum) and their hardware is suprisingly sturdy.

I just got an Avalon 6 piece and look forward to getting it set up to my liking.

Pics coming soon. (It is not at my house)

Ah very nice. I was looking at getting a snare from them awhile back, they are a highly respected name in the custom drum world. Let me know how you like the Avalon, I was wondering for awhile what seperated it from their Newports line. It seems priced up higher, but I can't find any justifiable spec info on the differences between the lines. Two of my drum heroes play for/have played for OCDP, Jon Otto and Ray Luzier. Get to postin them pics!

From what I can see, the Newports have better hardware and better finishes. The brackets on the rim mounts not only connect to 2 top lugs, but also the bottom lug that is in between them. (keep the mount from scraping if it gets loose, or just from loosening in general) As far as the finish goes I was told that the Avalons are wrapped and the Newports are painted on. Although I have seen a handfull of Avalons including mine, and if they are wrapped, there is virtually NO SEAM. They look painted. The only give away is the bass drum hoop. Newport finish covers the entire hoop. Avalon finish only covers the outer circumferance, not the inner and edge surfaces. Those remain woodgrain.

All in all, not enough to make me want to spend the extra money. Plus I fell in love with my Avalon the first time I saw it. (a month or two before I bought it)

I think both series are all maple.

I have a custom OCDP kit and absolutely love it! The 20-ply vented snare is like a gunshot. And the bass drum is the best-sounding bass drum I've ever had! Low and boomy! It was my dream kit when I was I in high school and ten years later, I was able to make the dream come true.

Very nice! Looks very sharp and comfy to play. One thing that's interesting, i've never seen a mainstream kit that uses offset lugs like that. Kind of unique.

Hi PerryGoRound, and welcome to Drum Chat.

The best way to show off your drums is to post a pic of them on the "Show Us Your Drums" thread. That will definitely get them noticed by the community. Of course, you are welcome to start a thread about your drums too. Stickied threads necessarily happen infrequently, though, otherwise we would be overrun with Stickies.

A sticky for Ocdp would be kind of excessive anyway, i'd just as soon use the Custom Drums thread for it? Seems to go along with the general group these kits fall under.
