Inside the truck...
(Sung to the Beverly Hillbillies theme song)
Let me tell ya 'lil story 'bout a guy named Bish
Had too many drum sets that never fulfilled his wish
One day while out shopping for the perfect kit to own
He came upon DW's from a web page they were shown
Upon deciding that was the next kit he would buy
He had to decide what direction he needed to fly
So he packed up his other kits that he had come to know
He said, "For the DW's to fit the rest will have to go."
He planned and measured and measured more than even twice
They all needed to fit a space and needed to play nice.
After much trial and error and planning it all about
He made it work he made them fit and then he headed out.
Here's the planning and the results. I was able to pack my DDrums, Saturns and PDP platinum kits into my Trailblazer all at the same time, including hardware.
The carpet all the drums are sitting on was the basic dimension of the Trailblazer floor area behind the front seats, with the second set folded down. I measured for "Max Headroom" and with those dimensions I planned out the stacking in the basement before taking everything upstairs and putting them into a cold garage. It was mid November and was below zero outside already.
I traveled to Milwaukee WI that weekend to transact business previously discussed with a music shop. We had worked out the swap and all I had to do was provide shipping either way.
ROAD TRIP...in which I got to spend an evening with Norske. He met me there and after several hours of drooling and dueling with the sales guys, I was unloading my kits and loading up the DW's. He had also gotten a taste of the Pearl Masters that weekend, too, which inevitably led to him becoming the proud owner of a set of Masters within a few weeks.
We then went out to dinner and yakked about life and then I headed home to play with my new toys.

What an awesome kit! Red sparkle is always a win, love the config too. Can't say as i'd get rid of a Saturn for them though..

Awesome. The DWs looking amazing. I gave up a Catalina Maple, Catalina Jazz, and set of 4 congas for my MCANs. I know a huge trade like that can be really hard to go through with, but it looks like it was worth it in the end for you. Congrats.
For true value, I only paid 500 for the DDrums, around 800 for the PDP's and 1200 for the Saturns, all new. They were all about 2 years old and depreciating big time. I got about 50% of new value trading them in at the same location. I didn't do too bad.
I got my gigging dollars out of all those kits during that time frame. I had no regrets plus I gained more space for the Bubingas and the Masters. It all worked out in the end.

Congrats on the new kit Bish! It's sure a beauty. Was this a store that you regularly deal with, or did you come across a great deal and have to drive a distance to get there?
