there's hundreds of company's doing pearl copy's ..iv owned a peace and a powerbeat kit almost identical to the pearl 90's exports and forum kits
As some of you may recall, I was suspicious about my kit NOT being a Pearl. After a bit of research on lugs and stuff, I found that my kit didn't match any of Pearl's lugs. So my kit isn't a Pearl. Oh well.
Speaking of hardware, my tom holder for my 12" tom snapped, but I kept the shell and threw the holder out, so I have this extra tom if anyone needs it :/ Actually I like the 1 up 1 down setup, I can reach my ride a bit better. I tuned up my 13" so that it's got a nice tone to it, with or without hearing protection, and the same for my 16". I loosened up the resos also so I have a bigger sound out of less, rather than a quick sound out of more, and I like the sound of my kit so far. The kick I generally kept the same. With the extra room I had on my kit and with a couple more screws left over from the 12", I was able to have my 13" come almost directly to the left of my kit, and right in front of my snare, which I like having.
I finally put a use to my drop clutch, but I don't know how to make use of the "drop" so i'm just using it as a clutch as it's 1000x better than what I had, and my hats now don't suddenly drop and close because the little screw thingy got a little loose.
I'll have updated pics tomorrow afternoon to show you all, and a closeup of the lugs, compared to Pearl's lugs and also a before/after of my kit. I think with all the abuse it's been through with it's past two owners (when I got it it almost looked neglected, but it looked like it was put to use) the TLC i've given it is the only thing keeping the whole thing from not falling apart.
I'm also hoping to pick up a replacement snare real soon so if I get that i'll also post pics.

Those Copycats.
As you can see, it is not a Pearl, Pearl's are rounded, and mine are squarish and rectangular. So, my kit is NOT a Pearl, but rather, a...
Groove Percussion kit. -_-
Coincidentally, that same lug I took a picture of broke, a good half hour after I took it. I was playing Xbox with my brother in the same room, heard a noise, looked back, and the lug and the little golden piece on the inside had broken off from the inside, leaving the tom untunable, and ultimately, unplayable. :( :( :(

Some more pics of the kit before EVERYTHING falls apart. This was taken before the golden piece snapped off.

Here is the cracked tom holder on my 12" that I threw out
So i'm stuck with a snare, a kick, and a floor until I get a new kit. I won't be playing too much I guess. This really is a low blow because me and my band were really supposed to get started this summer but this sets us back further. I think i'm going to give up going to the Big 4 show in September and get a new kit instead. Really bummin' out over here. I do have my eye on a kit already, a Custom Classic Pro Birch in Silver Sparkle burst, 2 up, 2 down, and it comes with extra hardware.

What? You're not fixing the 5/8"diameter tom holder? It's $12 from Gibraltar I think. Or steal a lug and tension rod/screw from the unusable tom and replace that busted one. Not a big deal:2 nuts, 2 bolts. Holes' spacing's probably the same for a lug for a 12" or 13" tom.

Good to finally see your kit, that's a shame it fell apart like that though. I guess if this was a better line it might be worth salvaging with replacement parts, but if it was me I would see it as more money put into it than I care to do. How long have you had it?

I've personally had it a year and a half but it had 2 owners before it came to me, it's almost 20 years old. It's probably older than me! My uncle told me the guy he picked it up from said he had it for 8 years because his son played for about 5, then stopped and it sat around his house for 3 years collecting dust (and rusting and eventually breaking down to what you see here today).

Sucks man. I'd do as much swapping between the 12 and 13 as would allow to try to find enough lugs to play. You should be able to find replacement hardware easy enough and cheap enough.
Actually I might be able to help you out with a couple lugs and a mount off of a 14" Pearl Export tom I have. PM me if you're interested.

When you hit that black tab on your drop clutch, it will release the top hihat, and it will drop down.
Press down on the hihat pedal, and it will pick the hihat up again.

Jordison, stop throwing stuff away. For a few bucks you can buy replacement tom mounts, even cheaper if you make friends with a music store repair guy with a drawer full of parts.
And yeah, from your pictures your toms have five lugs. That's entry level stuff. Pearl never made an Export or even a Forum with five lugs on a tom But so what, they can still sound good with TLC. Learn how to replace lugs and tom mounts... even if the holes don't line up on the mounts who cares...drill some holes... their only value is if you can play them. So stop throwing stuff away... fix 'em.

Cassidy,
While I agree throwing hardware away was a bad idea, there is really NOTHING I can do with the broken drums. I'd rather just buy a whole new set, a durable set, and basically have this kit just in case I needed a home kit, or if one of my brothers decided to take up drumming. Heck, I know exactly what I can do with this kit. I can give it to my friend, who's been dying to get drums forever. I'm sure he can get an extra tom on ebay, etc, and get a snare stand for it. Seeing someone else enjoy it as much as I did would certainly be more satisfying than fixing it up and keeping it to myself. My friend's played drums for the longest time; he's only allowed to have an e-kit; the e-kit he has he can't stand to play, and I second it, the e-kit sucks! I can have this kit set up at my house so we can jam together on seperate sets instead of taking turns on one. That seems like a great idea to me and a certainly great feeling to give someone else the gift of drumming.

You can get by missing a single lug. You can get a new lug no worries.
And the tom mount? What about...
Goes onto the hoop, and your tom arm will probably fit it.

jordison, that's too bad that the kit started self-destructing on you. Sounds like you might have had your heart set on a new kit anyway, so just keep it going until you can get the new kit, then let you friend have it, and he can do the repairs. He'd have a kit, and he would have invested very little in the process of repairing it. You could help him, and it would just stengthen the friendship.
