I once took an axle and nuts from a front bicycle wheel and used it to mount a secondary set of closed hi-hats.

    top of axle
    nut
    cymbal washer
    cymbal felt
    top hat
    bottom hat
    cymbal felt
    cymbal washer
    nut
    bottom of axle

I would just put the part of the axle sticking out of the bottom into a cymbal stand base or a multi-clamp of some sort.

I later made a fully functional remote hat stand out of a Pearl regular hat stand and a motorcycle clutch cable.

I needed a rim block for some tunes at church. So a friend of mine made this one up for me out of hard rock maple.

Excellent job on both the wood block and the cymbal guys! How much force did you use to drill through the cymbal BB? Did you need to use any special type of drill bit or setting?

I just used a normal hole saw bit on my cordless drill. I had to put pretty decend pressure on it, but it cut the holes easy enough. For the first 2, the guide bit wasn't sticking out far enough, and caused the hole saw to walk a bit, creating some scratches. Once I got that pulled out a bit more, I had no issues.

I made a practice pad kick this weekend. 1/2 hours work and about 5 hours of practice time!

I went to my cabin and didn't want to drag my kit so I just brought the snare and my spare pedals.
