    My first submission is the djembe mount that I built. I used my un-used bongo stand, removed the bongo mount piece and inserted my home made mount that I custom built for my Remo 14" djembe. Works great and has tilt! I used 1" square tubing and a piece of 1" round tube that I had to machine down to fit into the bongo stand. The bottom piece I had to cut on a steel bandsaw and bend to make a "hook" if you will. The velcro is riveted on. Voila!! I think it cost ME $5 and the rest was spare stuff laying around at work. I might mention that the padding is neoprene material left over from a canoe project from a few years ago. It's 1/2" thick. I can get you a link or if you ask nice, I might have a piece or two left around I could send as an offering of peace!!

    Here's another... I know that LP makes these but I can't remember what they are called. This is just a piece of 1" sq aluminum tube drilled with very long carriage bolts and nuts. The heads of the bolts were cut off. I fab'd the clamp from the same material and cut a "V" out of the side of the mount thing. I know.. so clever...

    Here's my cajon. Excellent sound and I'm very happy with this after playing others at the local stores. It's 1/2 and 1/8 baltic birch. The snares are adjustable using the big screw for a handle and it twists the dowel and alters the engagement of the snares.

    I'm sending the police to your house. They have been looking for the guy that stole the monkey bars from our school yard. Your rack looks very familiar....

    Bongobill;

    I'm a woodworker myself. Your djembe is awesome! I can't see any glue lines so I'm guessing you turned to bottom part? And is that a different wood species on the bottom? Can you tell me more about how you made it? Beautiful work!!

    Since when did DIY become MIY? Who the hell do you think you are? You think you can just go around changing acronyms like that without permission?!!

    drummer, MIY is for people with a welder, a lathe, brake press, and all the other stuff.

    Most of us do stuff.
    They *make* stuff with above equipment!

    Busyflyin,
    Here is a link to a slideshow of the process of making the drum. The trumpet is turned on a lathe that I made with a router, and the bowl was hand planed. The drum is pine and I put a hardwood foot on it to protect the trumpet from splintering.
