I was checkin out the Paiste website... I think the Alpha line sounds like a better deal than the 201's. Cheaper and a better quality sound for more musical genres.

The good times won't roll themselves
Gretsch Renown Maple, Paiste Signature, Reflector, and Dark Energy
thats kind of weird that it would be cheaper..
Don't go by just my opinion though. If you go to Paiste.com they have preview clips of each product which is uber beneficial. Check it out and see which one suits you.

well they all have a bright sound to them, thats for sure, but im not sure if that brightness will suit my musical needs.. thats my delema here.
Its spelled d"I"lemma not d"E"lemma
well as long as I get my point across thats all i worry about
the alphas cost more money..theyre the higher end line...but still a midline cymbal
not last time checked.. they were cheaper. even buying seperate cymblas EI: hi hat, ride and crash) in the alpha series it was still cheaper then the 201 bronze pack.
I think the Alpha series has a great range to them. What are there like 5 different sizes of hi-hats? That could be why they're considered so high end. The cymbals have an awesome range too.

that could be why.. i never looked at it that way, it might not always be quality.
alpha cymbals are phenomenal when it comes to cutting through. also they have a wide size variety for each type of cymbal. alpha's fit anyone's need.
Ostinato is the way to go!
I'm not sure about the 15 inchers, they sound a little too low for me. They do go crazy on the sound range with most the Alpha products. The 14" hats don't sound all too different from the PST line's hats.

That is kinda true, unless you go with the Sound Edge hats. I have the 14" Alpha Sound Edge hi-hats and they actually sound more like Zildjian A Custom Mastersound hats than anything. I was in the studio recording last night and the sound tech came in the drum booth and told me to put his hats back because I never asked to use them. Then he looked and saw that they were my hats and all he could say was " no freakin way...". He pulled his out and we set them up side by side and the 14" Zildjians were a little (and I mean VERY little) higher pitched when you played them open. Same chick, same response. I'm glad I spent $100 less....Originally Posted by 32ndHeartBeat

Are those the new alpha lines after 06, or the old 92-05 models 1DB
They are the older model. 14" Alpha Thin hi-hat top, 14" Sound Edge bottom. I was told when I bought them that they were prototypes made in 2002, but I cant find any info on them.
