Any drummer that acquires a modicum of fame is going to get "rated" a level or 2 higher than what their actual capabilities are.

If they passed on at a young age, add another level or 2 to that, but I think the person who said "our Lord and father Bonham" might have gone a hair too far.

It's getting to the point where I think I'll use emoticons to express my opinion...it's safer.

Peart's and Ringo's playing (along with many other drummers that I can list all night) are used as examples of finding the right part for the song, whenever I'm teaching lessons.

I think every drummer that is or was in a famous/recorded band is great. They all have their own unique strengths and styles....be it Ringo or Peart, old or young. They all have things I can admire and learn from. Thank heavens they don't all play and sound the same. How boring would music be if all drummers played like Peart, Ringo, Collins or anyone else?

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

Well, the songs played are their songs, with their fills, etc. It would really be interesting if these famous drummers played covers of other songs!

Well then how about a shout out for Robbie Bachman ? I was a big fan of BTO in the early to mid 70's, well before I ever heard anything by Rush. I still enjoy listening to BTO.

To their credit, their hard-driving heavy-duty rock and roll was able to make for some great AM radio-friendly hit records, too.

During the last two days, I have been working on playing the IDENTICAL drum part to the 2nd half of THE TREES.................just after the temple block section, the time sig goes into 5/8 and the key changes to A major.............we are learning the song from that point forward in order to piece it together with another song that ends in A.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Neil Peart.............it is always a fun educational experience to learn one of the great tunes from Rush.
