Found a nice one too. Tony at Zildjian day, the whole show! Merry Christmas!
I was fortunate to see TW perform in a small club in Cambridge, MA, back in 80 or 81, I think (Jonathan Swift's for the locals -many fun nights there, like Richie Havens on his birthday, or being at the side bar, two feet away from drummer Don Moye, with "the Leaders").
I was not drum-aware as I am now (?), sadly, yet I experienced TW's commanding performance, punchy and refined.
I wish I would remember the lineup - some notable brass player? I may have written it down somewhere.

To this day I remember when I bought "The Joy of Flying" album right after it came out. I lived with that album for months. Awesome!
I always thought Tony Williams and Marcus Allen could be brothers

great vid olimpass, looking at his set up, I think metal drummers should pay more attention to jazz drummers, there's so much efficiency to how jazz drummers play and how they have their drums, and they play with the same speed and force...

Anatolian Kappadokia 14" Rock High Hats
Sabian El Sabor 20" Ride
Zildjian A 18" Crash Ride
Istanbul Agop 16" Trash Hit

love it! Great drummer wonderful dynamics and power when needed simple when not.
His work on the Jan Hammer album "OH, Yeah?" was amazing then as it is now. I remember as a kid buying the record and returning it for another copy because i thought the record was scratched. Still have trouble counting out the first track, "Magical Dog" as it is just so funky. Always had the highest respect for him. Sad to lose him so young.
