Deedubs, there is a certain format required to post in this section of the forum, read the sticky post titled "Rules for Posting in this Forum ** READ FIRST **" or look at any of the other posts in this section to see an example.

Usually the opening post includes an image as well as a basic fact sheet -
-- styles played
-- bands worked with
-- notable recordings
-- equipment used
-- etc. Whatever else seems pertinent
That was in the example that was given as a sort of template to follow in the sticky.
Josh Freese is amazing. One of my all-time favorites because everything he plays is just so right, which is why he's so in demand. Aside from playing with the Vanadals and Devo, he's also toured with 9-Inch Nails (among others) and he's recorded with tons of people. Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry are some notables from the last few years.

Very well rounded. I even like his sticks too. They are pretty much a 55a.
A hugely respected and well rounded musician. Here's another bit of trivia, dunno whether you guys had read a Modern Drummer interview with him or not, but when he was a young 'un, apparently he was also the ring-bearer at Vinnie Colauita's wedding, from what I recall reading. He's been good friends with Dweezil Zappa since his teens, and it was Frank Zappa's bassist Scott Thunes that got Freese into listening to punk music in the first place, telling him it was just as valid as a form of music as anything that was thoroughly composed, believe it or not.

"industrial rock, industrial metal, pop punk, post-grunge, post-punk"
What is this stuff anyway?
Pop punk is easy. It's essentially pop music played with punk sounding distorted guitars, played faster, more punk style drumming (a lot of fast hands stuff)etc... When record guys saw bands like Green Day starting to take off, they started applying that sound and production value to all sorts of music to jump on the bandwagon.
I would call this pop punk [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9fLbfzCqWw"]Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue - YouTube[/ame]

Post-punk is another one I can tackle. In the early 80's there was a movement to move past the 4 chord, heavy/hardbcore punk scene. A lot of it took place in the midwest. Bands still kept some edge, but moved back towards more melodic songwriting. It was pretty much the birth of what most people call "alternative" music now. Bands like Husker Du, The Smiths, REM, to name a few biggies.
Industrial, I never got so I'm no help there.

A good example of industrial would be the bands ministry, and Nine inch nails.
Good call! I really meant I couldn't really describe it that well. I guess I could have just posted some old NIN vids .

But you can go even further back to the 80's where there were bands about like Throbbing Gristle, Caberet Voltaire, Einstürzende Neubaten (from Germany) and Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel, it was a whole underground movement way before NIN and Ministry. We also had SPK here in Australia.

Kaos, yeah, you're right about that....I forgot that NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" was at the tail end of the 80's. Good call on that one!
