Snare Drum case help!!!!!!!!!! URGENT

Hey guys, i'm Jacque, new to the forum and i just have a simple question.

What size drum case do i need?????

I have a DDrum Dominion maple snare which is 13x7. Now i measured the snare from rim to rim and i came up with about 8 and a half inches.

So i went looking to buy a case for my snare (my band is going on tour next tuesday so its pretty urgent i find a case) and all the casesi was looking at only went up to a maximum depth of just under 8 inches.

Now this is really confusing me because the dimensions of the snare are officially 13 x 7 but when i measure it rim to rim it obv comes to 8 and a half inches.

IF anyone could please shed some light on to my problem i would be so greatful

Does anyone have any recommendations of any cases i could buy?

I think that when the say 13x7 they mean the shell measurements. Once you add the hoops then of course this will change the height and width alot. I would bring the snare with me and try out different cases that would fit it. That's the best advise I can offer you buddy. Good luck.

i think that case/bag manufacturers are aware that a snare 13x7 snare will be larger than 13x7-my set of humes/berg hardshell cases fit all of my drums without a problem, EXCEPT the kick drum case, which does fit my kick drum, but because of the spurs which stick out a bit more, the case is stretched. I fits but puts a bit of strain on the case...

I'm with Russ. A case made for a 13x7 drum should fit it fine. Test the case to be safe if you can.

A 14" Snare case would work fine with a little foam and you could always use if for any future 14" snare. I have bags and cases that are larger sizes and have foam inserts I use and not when useing them for that size drum.

You could always look at tom cases too, as there tends to be a bigger variety of shell sizes.

Big thanks for all the advice guys, not long after posting this i just went a bit crazy and bought a tom case instead haha which is 13 x 9 so might be a big too big, but ill just pad it out with spare tshirts like i do with my cymbal bag!

Well it is better to be a little bigger than too small. With some stuffing your snare should be comfy and safe in the case. Next time you will know.
