    Truls Haugen

    Drummer: Truls Haugen
    Main Style: Progressive Metal
    Main Band: Circus Maximus
Brief Summary: Norweigen band. Truls has some really good chops and odd time signatures. Circus Maximus is often compared to Dream Theater. I feel they are different in thier own way.
Currently he plays DW drums and sometimes you see his DW kit with PDP hardware.

Excellent drum work throughout all thier songs. Not only drums but the singer is phenominal as well as the bands tightness and sound in general when playing live.

To me a lot of metal bands attempt this kind of arrangement: quieter movements, then crescendos with practically orchestral sounds, then reverting to other quieter parts. None of which to me make for a whole, memorable song....

I'd say this is one of their more commercial songs, if you can call it that. Progressive Metal bands take you on a ride throughout their albums. One minute it can be heavy as anything you've heard, the next is mellows out into a beautiful passage. Very memorable for me. Most importantly the lyrics actually have real meaning. I can't listen to popular mainstream music any more, it bores me. It's to easy to play on the drums and it's the same thing over and over, wash , rinse, repeat. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Progressive Metal drummers are some of the best in the world.

Here's a one hour live show from Japan the band posted last year. It's got the live show as well as some interviews. A great watch.
