how do i use a mixer with an interface?

I have 3 microphones, a 57, and 2 cheapish dynamic vocal mics.

I have a presonus audiobox, a 2 input usb interface with 2 xlr preamps

I have a cheapo behringer mixer with 2 xlr preamps as well.

What is the best way to combine the three mics? two of them will have to go to the mixer and then into the interface, making them unable to be separated in the DAW. i'm thinking the 57 overhead around the middle of the kit ( that picks up a good ammount of tom tone/hi hats) , one of the others on the kick, and the other above the toms/ crash on the right side. any advice?

how many 1/4" inputs are on the interface?? Or is it 2 xlr and no others?

6 mics but only 2 inputs ....oh

you need someone with good ears and a bigger desk on the other end to get a good mix ,otherwise get a better i/o and use software mixing

iv said this so many times its unreal ...hardware mixers are only for playback in home studios!

Take two mics put them about 5ft in front of the kit pointing back at a 45deg angle. Pan the mics 1/2 left and 1/2 right. This will give you a cheap stereo recording of your kit.

yeah i only had three mics but it turned out freaking awesome. the kick and the left overhead into the mixer which went into track 1 on the interface, then the 57 pointing at the snare/hats. i'll post a video of the recording when its uploaded
