Nice live version of Take Five, Love it! Sounds more like Mr. Morello every day.
Well, I was trying to find a little bit of a sound balance with the P.A. that I use. It's one thing to have two electronic kits with music going (for lessons)....that has it's own little sound problems. But when you use a Smartphone to quickly video an acoustic set just to see how it sounds, even a 'supposedly quieter' co.cktail set with music going, especially in an ordinary room? That's another thing sound lesson altogether, hence the rods in my right hand and clip-on muffles on both the 12" Tama snare and 8" Trixon snare on my left. This was a second or third video attempt of this tune, there's a few little bumps and warts, and I popped in a couple of cymbals where they're not supposed to be, but hey, pretty much in the vein of what Steve Jansen would have played. I tell you, playing slow and steady is what works you at times, and playing no tom hits, let alone long tom fills is another discipline.
Thought I'd chuck another one in. Once again, sound balance ain't that great, but I did this one mainly to show people how I just lay things down with no frills, but not lose the groove. I teach it as a straight up 4/4 backbeat song (and you rarely can get any simpler than this one), however then I challenge students to read a chart with all the open hi-hat accents, and then to take it further I add the drum machine clap accents in the choruses, in real time (which were done on the original recording as overdubs I'd say).

Awesome video Michael!
Drumbledore, I agree with what you said about playing a slower tempo. It's one of the reasons that I admire Nick Mason's drumming. Well done, my friend!
BTW, I liked that you could get the clap in with the e-kit. Cool effect!

Here is a old one of me. The year 1987 playing with a band "Mad Hater"
at the 2nd annual Lone Star Jam. I played with two bands that day. Mad Hater and my old band "Mental Tourist"
Mad Hater -
The Mental Tourist were a bit a head of their time in Waco Texas. Most bands were covering hair metal, where MT played mostly originals and a few covers, but we were more alternative. Hope you enjoy.

The line between the real world and the machine world is becoming more and more blurred every day.But its not that humans are turning into automations or becoming slaves to the machines. No, we're simply growing toward each other!
Great thread guys. I've been checking out all of the vids on here over the past few days and enjoyed watching you all play. I especially dig the full band vids as I'm a sucker for gig footage, love it. Great job DMachine and TxDrummer!
