    Default New Ride :) happy!

    [IMG][/IMG]

Was considering Zildjian ZBT (about 80%tin and 20%bronze)

Got this instead for an extra $60 (88%bronze 12%tin)

I'm VERY content! it replaced my 18" Sabian Solar BRASS(EWWW!!!) Ride.. which sounded like hitting a broken tin can.

Thanks for everyone who made suggestions (although this wasnt one of them, ALL of your suggestions were taken into consideration, but in the end you have to go with what you like right?)

    Happy Drumming
    Specs

Drums: Gretsch Catalina Maple (Dark Cherry Burst) 8,10,12,14,16 toms 14 snare 22 bass

Congrats Frazetto. I've never had a ZHT (I had the ZBT's), but I have heard that they are a nice step up from the ZBT's. so you made a wise decision.

Just as a quick correction, zbts use B8 bronze (8 percent tin, 92 percent copper) if you had a b80 bronze cymbal, it would likely crack on the first strike because it would be so brittle. B20 is the most common cymbal bronze at 20 percent tin and 80 percent copper.

But congrats, because the ZHT is a huge sound upgrade from the ZBT. In fact, Dave Grohl actually uses a ZHT ride in Them Crooked Vultures. Go figure.

The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

"With the crashes being so good, I was hoping the rides would be the same. Unfortunately they aren't. It's often the ride cymbals that are the weakest part of a budget cymbal series, and that's the case with the Zildjian ZHT series. Both the 20" rock and medium-thin rides give a thick tone, reasonable feel, and have a decent pitch. But, they're let down by the clangy, harsh overtones that sound...well...cheap."

This is a quote about the ride from a review site. What do you guys think? Idk if i agree.

Actually, I don't like it's sustain. If I were to buy another ride i'd definitely go for a washier one.

As for the ride in its entirety, for what I paid (nothing), it's a very good ride, but it just doesn't suit me. I'm looking into buying some moongel soon so I can muffle it a bit and have less sustained noise coming from it. Honestly it's mediocre at best, but you get what you pay for. However at the other end of the spectrum, if you were looking into a crash in the near future, the 18" ZHT fast crash is the BOMB.

EDIT: I agree with the review site. That's it in a nutshell. But, if it suits you, it suits you. Nothing more to it.
