Default wood tip or nylon tip

I was playing with wood tips the other day and liked the different
sound of my cyms/ride,i was wondering what does everyone use
    tips or no tips

I say the same as you, each tip has it's own way of making different sounds on the cymbals and it is also preference. I found that the wood tips will leave marks all over the cymbals when used on new coated drum heads and for that reason I stick with clear heads when using wood sticks.

Nylon for me. My stick's eventually deteriorate and/or become thin at the shoulder over time from cymbal playing, and they sometimes then break, but during the whole time the nylon tip is still intact. I don't like the way wood tips partially break away fairly quickly and leave sharp points that could damage my heads. Plus I like the articulated and sharper sound that the nylon tips provide on my ride and all my cymbals.

Nylon tips; I play a lot of swing, blues and jazz and prefer the sounds I get out of my rides over wood tips.

Would nylon be better for my G2 heads, as far as wear?
I know the nylon would sound better on the cymbals.

Mostly Nylon, I have no idea why other than cymbal sounds seem more pronounced. That could very well be the HH Sabians needing a cleaning or somewheres in the middle of dark to bright. I'd think the choice between tips would come down to cymbal sounds, theres no difference on a drum. Doc.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I havelways used ahead speed metal sticks so there is no choice of whether to use wood.

I actually like when the tips start splintering. I had one stick that was practically flat one side of the bead. Sounded wicked awesome. I read once somewhere on the internet ( so it must. Be TRUE) that some old school jazz drummers would soak their drumsticks in wayer to soften up the sounds.

Wood, round tip. I used to use nylon for a while many years ago, but just didn't like the sound or feel of them.

Nylon all day long is what i prefer! But i got a 12 - pair pack of Wood tip 5B's to test them out, so that's what I'm currently using. When they all go, back to 2B nylons.
