Nylon for me. My stick's eventually deteriorate and/or become thin at the shoulder over time from cymbal playing, and they sometimes then break, but during the whole time the nylon tip is still intact. I don't like the way wood tips partially break away fairly quickly and leave sharp points that could damage my heads. Plus I like the articulated and sharper sound that the nylon tips provide on my ride and all my cymbals.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I havelways used ahead speed metal sticks so there is no choice of whether to use wood.
