that's really nice. I have been wanting one of those.
A cajon was something I'd been interested in for years, over Christmas I managed to get a Meinl Makah Burl cajon with carrying case for the acoustic open mic stuff me and my friends do in central Liverpool, that and they're fascinating to me. I love it. Nice deep bass tones, with adjustable wires for the snare effect.

Cool... I love those things!
You will have alot of people come to you at your show asking what your playing on. Not only do you have snares but you can also tune the face by tightening or loosening the small screws along the top from corner to corner. Loosening will give it more "slap". It's fun.
i really want one!!
Nice! Been thinking about getting one myself.
I have always wanted a cajon too, very nice
Looks really nice! I like the grain pattern, pretty wild.

I didnt know that you could get them with snare effect! I just saw one like a bongo at the music shop and thought that was pretty cool too.

bongo cajons, conga cajons, flamenco cajons, snare cajons, peruvian cajons. cajons with bells, bass cajons with pedals, plexiglass cajons, djembe cajons, dun dun cajons... the variety is amazing.
ZoroZap; did you take that pic yourself? very interesting picture. The bottom of the cajon appears to certainly be on an angle while the top looks to be perpendicular to the line of sight (straight to the eye) Plus the blue dress really brings out the colors. It just strikes me...
I love my home built cajon. I am the percussionist in our band and play a variety of hand drums, but our band particularly likes the cajon.. and djembe for some of the more "unique" songs that we do. As a matter of fact, we like the cajon so much that although we have had guest drummers for certain gigs, we have no plans to add a drum kit permanently.

I actually had someone come up to me and ask, no word of a lie: "Whats in your box that makes that noise?" after an open mic night I did with a couple of friends. I've loosened the four screws equally on either side of the central one across the top and it gives sort of an extra note, kind of like a rim shot. I'm dead happy with it, I'd recommend it to anyone as their first one. Nice deep bass on it.

I played a Christmas church gig and when we were done two people asked me what made "that" noise.. like a piece of metal or a ring hitting it. The right corner is actually curled away from the box about 1/16" or so and makes a great solid slap noise. I love my cajon and wouldn't be without it!

Cajons are great---as everyone on this thread is obviously aware. Can't beat the set up time, either!

I've been watching the forums for posts about cajons and it's interesting to me how companies are getting away with charging so much money for these things. I built my own, and all up with snare wires I think I have maybe $65 into it. The sound is really incredible and the band likes it just as much. You know why there are so many companies selling these? They are CHEAP and SIMPLE to build and they can make a fortune off them. IF you are inclined to build your own, do it. It's easy, fun, and satisfying to hear how your own project sounds when you are done.

It's funny, I have a lot of high end gear, and I get the most comments and questions about this $200 box. lol

Picked one up last month....a "blemished" Meinl Mapah Burl Snare Cajon for just over 90 shipped. Works great....just tinkering around with it right now. Definitely can get a decent bass and snare sound out of it for the acoustic gigs
