Congrats! Gonna be a sweet kit. Post pics once you get it home.
Hello Everyone :
After much research, I'm excited to announce I just placed my order for the new (mid-priced) kit...........I went with the Ludwig Epics.
Euro shell pack :
22 X 18
10 X 7.5
12 X 8
14 X 14
16 X 16
14 X 6.5
In addition, I added another 22 X 18 bass drum.
Everything is in the Natural Birch finish with smokey chrome hardware.
I'll set it up as a double-bass, two up, two down configuration.
I'll post photos after it all gets here.
I want to thank everyone here that helped me with the valuable information leading up to this decision............this board is a good place to meet some great people....................Happy Drumming !
Congrats! Gonna be a sweet kit. Post pics once you get it home.

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
Awesome! When should it arrive?
Sweet! That's going to be a beautiful kit.

Not sure...................the shell pack was in stock at the dealer.
The add-on bass was in stock at Ludwig and they can ship directly to me.
The dealer told me he would ask Ludwig if they also had a shell pack in stock and therefore, could they just ship the whole thing direct.
But even if not, it all should come together without problems.
At any rate, I'm guessing a week ???...........10 days ???
10 days....I WISH my order was that fast! lol

Congrats man, it is going to be a long 10 days LOL but be patient it will be worth it.
That sounds like a perfect config for a great set of Ludwigs. They seem to be all the rage lately, that company is really putting out some fine choices. Fast delivery too, gotta love that. Lookin forward to the pictures!

Congrates!!! Have the drum sent to the retailer, if theres any damage from the factory or the shipping your covered by the retailer seeing first hand. Trust me it happens way to much today the ups and fed X of the world handle boxes especially without respect. Better to be safe because all the drum companies can be jerks when it comes to damage so your retailer will be your buffer and actually serve as a go between for you to Ludwig. Let the retailer earn their P/C! Doc.
Congratulations! Looking forward to those pics. You mean to say you can order a drum kit and get it in 10 days, what's that like?
Congrats and can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like a great setup.

I'm thinking of picking up one of these as a second kit (ok.. more of a fifth or sixth kit)... it's available in most of the Epic finishes and I haven't decided which one yet. I thought it would be sweet with some Atlas hardware and a Speed-King. This is more of an "Arena" type sized kit:
- 16x24 Bass
- 16x18 Floor
- 16x16 Floor
- 10x13 Tom
- 7x14 Snare

Thanks much to everyone.
Now you guys please give me your best advice on the proper heads.
I'm assuming the factory reso-heads will be just fine, but maybe not.
As far as the batter heads, I play a rock style; I grew up in the 60s and 70s.
My Gretsch USA Customs currently have Evans Hydraulic batter heads and I'm thinking of something a bit lighter but I still need durability.
Gretsch USA & Zildjian(What Else Would I Ever Need ?)
I know there are a lot of members on here who will give you good advice on heads but there are several factors in choosing the "right" head; the sound you want and like and what works well with the drum as well as tone, sustain and resonance. I use Evans EC2 for my batter and the Evans Genera Reso. This combination works well for me. I have used Remo Pinstripes for batter and Remo Clear Ambassadors for the reso. The Evans combination has a little better tone, sustain and resonance, in my opinion. I also play mostly rock oriented styles.
The question of what head to outfit your kit with will bring many opinions that may help steer you in the right direction but in the end it will be up to what you think sounds and works best for you.
