Hey dorfmeister.
Thanks for posting the vids, interesting stuff.Nice bit of variety for me as i usually just listen to drummers who want to beat their kit to death.Think i will be checking out more music and vids by Billy in the future.
I absolutely love Billy Martin, he's just got that 'lope' to his style that flows. Really knows his Brazilian and African instruments too.
Best MMW album for me still is "The Dropper".

Is that what they called the album,The Dropper.?
Wow.. what a horrendously bad name...sounds like something that happens to a certain part of the anatomy after 10 pints of lager.!
Still i am sure the album sounds great but what a terrible name.

I've got a tv/dvd player set up in front of my drums in my practice space and I've been putting on my headphones and watching "Life on Drums". I improvise along to whatever is going on whether it be Billy playing, Allen Herman playing or the two of them talking. A really good dvd that is more about how to approach and learn drums than it is about any specific instruction of technique. Using my "active watching" I've been through it all the way at least 5 times. I've been watching Benny Greb's "The Language of Drumming" the same way. I like both but I think I resonate more strongly with Billy. Ultimately I just prefer his approach more though I wouldn't even think about making value judgements about them as musicians. I am getting a great deal from both.
