You might check out MuseScore if you need a good notation program for free. It's not as feature rich as some of the more expensive programs like Finale but it'll get the job done. A quick google for MuseScore should help you find it.
I've been playing a couple of years and started taking some lessons recently which has really helped me shape up in some of my weak areas. That being said, one thing I've never been good at, having no previous formal training, is reading. My current teacher writes everything down by hand so I have a visual reference of what we're working on. A particular issue I have is he might write down a specific pattern, we'll play it or "sing" it out at the lesson, but when I get home and practice, I read it wrong. As the patterns have gotten more complicated and added more white space, it's gotten worse.
So on to my question...does anyone know of a software/app/website I can plug in notation and have it play back an audible pattern?
Thanks.

That's great. Thanks for the suggestion.
No worries man happy to help. If you could though, post back later after you've used it for awhile and can give a lowdown of any feedback you have on it? It would really help out anyone else in a similar situation wondering about the program. Just a thought, good luck and have fun!
