I tune mine medium tight to very tight(I guess those are the correct terms) I like my snare to be dry and have crack! Never looked into this drum dial thing either............maybe I should........hmmmmmmm

Just a brief update, still haven't gotten around to grabbing the lug locks, but I definitely have to do SOMETHING soon! Played a concert this past Saturday, heard/felt my drum loosing tune as I played! Had to tune up the side that was losing tension on the fly!!!!

I find with all of my snare drums it is more room acoustics that plays with the tone of my drums. Because what sounds fantastic one evening may only sound OK the next and something different even the next. And low and behold again fantastic. I just don’t worry about it and concentrate more on my playing and having a good time playing. Don’t worry, the crowd doesn’t here the subtle difference we drummers hear.

Ugh, I've been trying to find those lug locks for ever. I actually just went and bought hex nuts, but those might be more convenient. I doubt I can get PM's yet, can you just post where you got them? Thanks!

Just go buy some Loctite. It won't loosen on it's own anymore.

I know this will sound hard to believe, but loctite did not solve my detuning problems at all. I tried it on many drums...snares...toms...didn't work on any of them for me.

Try lubericating your rods. I little dab of vaseline on the threads will do wonders to help with detuning.

^------This or maybe just not using tuning rods at all. I mean, if you don't have them in, they can't detune, right?

You can find luglocks at precisiondrum or universal percussion if need be. Be advised that they don't work on wood hoops though. So you will have to find another way of battling detuning with the kick, or any other drums that use wood hoops.

NR, I was just kidding. I actually thought you were kidding, so I just went with it. If you weren't kidding, then I'm not sure how lubricating something will help keep it from loosening.

I wasn't making fun of you though.

Because the lubriication actually stops the vibration of dry metal on dry metal. To demonstrate take a ruler and spring it on your counter it does that bzzz thing that drive our teachers nurs in school. Now put some vaseline on the ruler and do the same thing.
