    no significant change in sound?

The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

it is hard to hear the effect the hole has on the sound in the garage. The most I notice is the shorter sustain and added clarity. There is a significant difference in feel.

Weird, I notice a significant change in sound and a significant change in feel every time I've ported out a kick.

The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

Looks nice. What did you have to modify? Was the hole already there and thus you added the white thingy?

That white thingy Russ is put on over the hole after cutting to make sure the skin doesn't spilt.

When I ported my bass drum I found it louder but it made it easier to muffle the inside with a small pillow which made it sound awesome.

this may seem like splitting hairs, but to be accurate, the circle was placed on the head before cutting and then followed by the blade in order to make a nice hole. and yes, it does prevent splitting :D

Yes you are right. It has been so long since I put a port hole in my head that I forgot that you stick that ring over the part to be cut out then take a blade and cut around the inside of the ring and this also stops the head from splitting and gives it a nice professional looking finish.

    That

You should be able to find one at your local retailer. If not, there are many online distributors available. For example, can I say this here?...Musicians Friend

yours lined up the way mine did. it sits wierd, and mine moves everywhere, i noticed that last practice when i adjusted mine back to being straight, then after practice, it was messed up again. i dont understand why its so loose.

    2 sided tape i guess?

The port on my reso is a tad too big...but it makes taking the Kickport out easier.

i know, they designed the kickport cutout to be a tad too big just for that reason. i guess it would have a hard time going in if the cutout was exact.

im tapin' mine, might even use some hardcore glue.

Thanks for posting the pics late8 cause I did not know that the hole for the Kickport was a tad bigger till I saw your pics. I have seen a few pics of Kickports but never seen one with it off a bit like yours.

I made my kick port from a coffee can. I glued it in place with this stuff called "Goop", a silicone-ish gluey kinda stuff. Sounding Great.
