Default Jam Block or Agogo Bells?

    Hey drumchaters,
Most of my drumming is funk/rock music but recently I've started doing more jazz and latin drumming. I have a cowbell attached to my kit and am looking at getting either a jam block or some agogo bells? The problem is I'm not really sure what sort of sound you get from a jam block or how they are used in various musical styles.
Any words of wisdom would be nice

What some LP Jam Blocks and Blast Blocks sound like:

How Latin percussionists might use them:

The agogo bells you would tend to use in Brazilian sambas or music that's influenced by that. There's certainly no harm in incorporating it into any type of pop/rock or Latin influenced groove, so long as it's done with taste. But I would say you'll get a bit more mileage, musically speaking, by getting the jam blocks first, see how you go with incorporating it into your set up, before you then go and get a set of agogo bells.
