Default Modifying a HiHat Controller into a Expression Pedal?

Hi guys! I'm trying to control Superior Drummer 2.0 with my Yamaha HH65 Hi hat Controller hooked in my Yamaha PSR-293 Keyboard sustain pedal input but it doesn't work. No Midi signal is transmitted through the HH65.

I was wondering if it was possible to modify the HH65 to become a Continuous Controller via the Sustain Input of my keyboard?

    Thanks a lot!

Quote from the Yamaha USA electronic drum section:

The DTX power must be turned on after the Hi-Hat pedal is plugged in or else the DTX may not recognize the pedal properly.

    Proper Start-Up Sequence:

    1.Turn off the power.

    2. Connect the foot controller (HH80) or foot switch into the Hi-Hat jack on the back panel.

    3. Turn the power on.

NOTE: The DTX will automatically detect the polarization of the switch and enable regular operation. Make sure the foot controller or foot switch is not depressed when turning on the power.

I think you may have a polarity issue between the HH-65 and the Yamaha PSR-293 Keyboard sustain pedal input. The underlined section above may indicate as such.

Ok thanks a lot! Now what can I do to modify the HH65 to make it work?
