Weird I just bought my 1st set of Bongo's (used) CP by LP also and I too paid $50 but it came with the stand. The heads are shot I hope because they sound like crap. Does anyone know if heads make a bigger difference with Bongo's than with drums?

Maybe you didn't get a stand, but you don't have to replace the heads.

I paid $51 for the LP Aspire bongos and stand. It was the seller's first ebay sale, so I think alot of people who otherwise would have bid on these stayed away.

Hey, Frazzetto! Hope you're enjoyin' those new CPs. I've played them through the years and, for what they are--the least expensive line in the LP family--they're not bad for the price. If there is a weak link to the CPs, it would be, unfortunately, the heads. They're a little lower in quality and rougher than the heads on Aspire or LP bongos, but you can always upgrade them down the road.

If you're hammering the daylight out of them, they'll wear out faster, but if you're using them for fun or for moderate use on gigs, they're ...

Yeah, thanks! I use them for fun, not TOO often. I was going to upgrade, then I saw that heads are about 35-50 a pop! WHAT THE HECK!? Why so much? I also wanted to get synthetic heads rather than the naturals it comes with. Still expensive, if not more. :\

Cool Re: CP Traditional Bongos? Anyone?

As I hinted in my first post, man, the weakest link on the CP bongos is the heads; that's one of the reasons they are relatively inexpensive. Synthetic heads come in various levels of quality, as do skins; I'd rather spend a little more on good heads and not have to replace them as often! But, unfortunately, nothing is cheap...

Sounds like you got some good ones there, INVG9! Actually, the CP line began about the early 1980s, when the majority of LP/CP stuff was still produced in the U. S. I have a pair of fiberglass CP congas that date back to 1987, and I've knocked those darn things around so often it's a minor miracle they haven't shattered or cracked! They still sound great and I've only had to replace one head during all that time.

    Enjoy them, bro'!
