    Default Kit or Rudimentary Drummer?

As in the title, what kind of drummer are you?

Do you enjoy using the kit freestyle, making your own sound?
Or do you enjoy being more technical and professional with your rudiments?
I'd probably have to be a kit player, I like to make my own sound.

not having much actual formal training. I learned a VAST majority of what I can do by myself behind a kit.

I guess I would have to classify myself as a kit player, but I do read music, and I'm working on the rudiments, I'm considering joining a fife and Drum group next year so I have asperations of doing both.

I'm a kit player. Give me two hours behind my kit, and I have a totally original sound.

ETF, so far I'm definitely a kit player. When I started, I got my joy from playing rhythms on the drums, and moving around the kit. I've even managed to get faster and faster, but I also know that to be a really good drummer (and that's what I want) I also have to know the rudiments. As I listen to various drummers, I am beginning to recognize the various rudiments that make up their "unique" sounds. It's all about placing which rudiment where.

So I may be a kit player now, but I do want balance.

    Cool Kit or Rudimentary Drummer?

I learned the rudiments, but now I'm a kit player...but what I've learned from the rudiments enabled me to loosen up and experiment...

pastor bob, you nailed it--balance is the key...

keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!
