2nd crash suggestions (Meinl fans welcome!)
Hey everybody! I found somebody to purchase my 18" A Custom crash so now I'm looking at options for my left-side crash. I know every company has incredible cymbals, but I want to make Meinl my next selection.
I know it really depends on what style of music I play, but I guess I'm just curious what YOU would go with if you were in my situation. I have a 20" Byzance Medium Crash and a 20" Byzance Sand Ride along with 14" A Custom hats. I play mostly worship/rock music but I also spend a lot of time playing rap/hip-hop music.
At this point I'm really open to anything. With my previous setup consisting of a 16" A custom crash on the left and an 18" on the right, I was using the the 16" only as something to hit at the end of fills, beginning of phrases, etc. Basically I just never consistently crash-rode it like you would a crash-ride (I get so confused with the different terminology...) because it was too small/thin that it didn't really fill out the whole tonal spectrum like the 18" and Sand ride did. My thinking is that since I'm already used to using my left crash as only accents/downbeats/accents/etc, going with something unique like a trash crash or extra dry could be really cool. On the other hand, i've never had a crash on my left that I can crash-ride so maybe it'd be cool to have a fuller crash like an 18" or 19" medium.
Too many options! Basically I'm just looking for opinions on what YOU would do if you were in this situation. I can't think for myself sometimes
