    Default PDP concept release?

I was looking on the PDP website and while looking at the specs for the x7, when I came across the concept series. Which have I think 4 different ranges. 4,5,6 and seven piece kits ^^^in either 2 birch colors or 6-8 maple finishes. Now they are on eBay and released ^^^in the US. I just want to know when they are released ^^^in Australia? Is it worth waiting for the 7 piece concept kit?

I'm interested in these kits too. They seem to have many high-end features but the price point is on par with the X7 range which is what they replace.

Alas, I'm in the UK so they're not here yet to be able to try out.

I would expect them to be priced like the pdp platinums were before they were discountined, maybe what the dw performance series was when it first came out. In other words, considerably more expensive than the x7.

With Concept pricing, it looks like PDP is still intent on finding the formula to dominate the intermediate market.

I stand corrected. $900 US seems pretty reasonable for an intermediate level 7 piece.

Indeed! It seems that PDP is steering clear of the higher end market and leaving the DW Performance Series take the space left by the Platinums. This, I feel, is a good move as the Platinums were confusing the market.

From what I understand, the M5's and X7's will eventually go and be replaced by the Concept Maple and the FS series will be superseded by the Concept Birch.

I think we are now in the cross over period where PDP are trying to shift the left over X7's, M5's and FS kits whilst breaking in the new line. I just wish they'd hurry up and get some of the new gear over to us Brits to have a bash on!

Australia will most likely be the last to get it unfortunately. Oh well it seems I will probably wait for the release of that kit before I buy a discontinued set of x7's

If the X7 is readily available in AUS and you like them why not just get one?

concept maple 5 pieces are available in the US right now for 679.00.
you have to wait for PDP to make it and ship it, much like a DW kit.

Because I don't have the money yet and I want to wait for the concept series because they seem to be better.

Another thing to consider though, is that because X7's are discontinued the price will probably go down when the Concepts roll in.

I didn't think about that one. Although even if the prices do go down they will be discontinued which would make them even harder to but because there won't be that much of them

the concept series has many DW appointments that the X7 does not.
case in point, the original X7s were poplar shells.
ive heard nothing but great reviews of the concept series. id wait
X7 kits in my neck of the woods are still carrying lofty price tags.
check out interstatemusicdotcom, they have them to order from the factory, again i have no idea of the wait, could be the same as waiting for a DW
the X7 is a great kit as the M5 is also, still carrying a 650 price tag
i have to wait until august to order my Concept kit, getting married in 2 weeks, the woman says yes to it!

Not sure if this is the case, the Concept Maple shells are the exact same shells as the X7 maple shells , both are Asian Maple. Only difference is the snare shell, X7 is 7 ply, Concept is 10 ply. My local Drum shop has a ton of concept kits in stock, 4, 5, and 7 piece.
