Good Stuff! The Tour Custom is the line above the Stage Custom right? I only know about Pearl lines :S

I agree with Funky. I haven't checked into the Tour Custom, just the Stage Custom Advantage. but I guess the real key here is that the Yamaha Tour Custom should be evaluated against the Gretsch Renown Maple. I did a quick check of the Musician's Friend website and they list the Yamaha set at $999 (US), and the Gretsch set at $1,499 (US). Given the quality of both companies, and the difference in price, I might be tempted to go with the Yamaha, if the drum sizes, and color, were what I wanted.

i would put the tour custom up against pearls new export customs, but think the gretsch renown would be in another league. for example gretch renown comes with virgin 20 lug kicks. aswell as a nicer, more expensive finish process.

me to ish. I believe in spending more money means better sound though. Im experiencing that with my guitar and trying to record atm :( I given up coz i need a guitar thats properly internated etc. I need at least a grand to achieve what i want :(

Same with drums thought. Spend the most. Ull get a really good quality sound over a cheap one (ranking between cheap ones are just names not really sounds.)
