    Hey welcome to Drum Chat!

    Here's what your gonna need:
Digital Audio Workshop ( DAW) software
A USB audio interface to input to your computer
    Mics (see below)

As far as mics go, it's slightly complicated. I don't know what your budget is,
But keep in mind that unless you have a separate mixer to run into your interface, your Interface will need have the same amount of inputs as your mics.
basically number of mics you have= how many channels on the interface you'll need and that equation = cost. Since your just starting out, I'd suggest not spending too much money, so here is my suggestions.

M-audio Fast Track (new about 130 and comes with software, or you can get it used for around 40 bucks with out software)
Audacity (free DAW software, good to get your feet wet with
4 channel P/A mixer (cheap if you buy used)
    2 condenser mics.
    2 mic stands.
1/4 male to XLR male ( for connecting the mixer to the interface)
2 XLR female to XLR male cords ( for the mics)

I'd suggest monoprice.com for the cords.
Eventually you'll want to expand your mix collection,
    So I'd suggest a shure beta-52 kick mic and a shure beta-57

    Yamaha Stage Custom Noveau
    10,12,14,20,14 (standard 2 up 1 down)
Evans EC2 over Remo Ambassador Resos
Evans Genera Dry over ambassador resos
    DW 5002 double bass pedal
Sabian 14 inch AAX Xcelerator hats
Sabian 14 inch HHX X-plosion crash
Sabian 16 inch AAX studio crash
Zildjian 17 inch Z custom crash
Sabian 21 inch AA rock ride
Zildjian 18 inch oriental china trash
    Agrazian 10 inch Splash

you dont have to make it complicated

a tape recorder or iphone etc...will do fine for personal use if you plan on releasing recordings then i would suggest a stand alone unit or a computer and a DAW...

you defiantly DONT!!!!!!! need to have a mixing desk or a pa!!!!!

Check YouTube for tutorials-the DAW tutorials and mic setting demos tend to be very helpful! I use Logic to record, and most of the techniques I've used that ended up working I got from tutorials that I found on YouTube.
