Scottie, that kit is gorgeous! I love the contrasting veneers! Please give us more details on these drums.

    The configuration is 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 w a 22 BD. The snare is 5.5x14.

Brady is an Australian company that uses wood unique to Western Australia. This is a jarrah ply set, and the outer ply finish is called Blackheart (gloss). Jarrah is several times harder / more dense than maple, so they keep the shells thin and do not use reinforcement rings. So you get a great blend of resonance, deep and low pitch, and sensitivity.

I've been eyeing Brady drums for several years and finally someone was selling an entire kit on eBay. All of their finishes are amazing, but I had been partial to the Blackheart since I laid eyes on it.

I took the plunge and can say without hesitation that these drums are the best I've owned. They are very "transparent", meaning that I get a great tone out of them no matter how hard or soft I hit them. Simple to tune, and pleasant to the ears.

My drum kit search is over... now if I can just stop my GAS entirely...

I find myself naturally going to the 12" rack tom in the lower position. Then when the tone is higher than I anticipated I consciously go to the actual floor tom on a subsequent fill. Going to take some getting used to. I find it nice have those two toms close together on the floor level with the snare.

You are right on, Lar. This will not leave my possession. I may just have my ashes placed in the 8 inch tom.

I cannot easily explain the step up from my past kits. You just have to play a Brady set to believe it.

Stunning! I noticed the cloth under the rightmost rack tom to prevent marring of the bass drum hoop and shell.

Might I suggest a small swath of camper's foam (weather stripping) on the bottom of the tom rim? My teacher also used to use the a cloth, but his slid on him and sadly that was all it took for a few nicks.

    Congrats on your find!
