Okay, Lemme explain my "weird setup". It was Basically inspired by Travis Orbin, who is one of my biggest influences. But how I really came to that setup was simple, I basically Imagined all the basic stuff I need (snare, Bass, Hats, Ride) and put them in their ideal position. Then I added all the other cymbals also too suit the positin of my main cymbals and then I added the floortoms to make it look badass :D
Oh and the small 8" tom over the 14" floortom makes an unususal octabon-ish sound, due to its tuning, but being positioned just under the floortom gives some added low-end which sounds epic. So yeah thats how my setup came to be what it is now :D glad you guys like it
Thanks for the explanantion. It's cool to find out how people decided on a particular set up.

Dexter - Beautiful drums! And I like your setup nice pix!
Gary
Hi guys thanks for the nice feedback. The blocks on the far right are granite blocks. Yesterday i replace the pitch blac with the 18'' sabian AA that you see on the far left. I replaced that with my 19" 2002 wild series crash! Then i placed my 11" Max splash over the ludwig chrome snare.
The white Premier snare is a vintage marching snare....14x9. $157AUS on ebay! I also replaced the evans skin on the second floor tom with a coated emperor so it matches!!
Theres alot of money and time invested!!
Cheers Dexter
I Drum, therefore I am
AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH A VINTAGE MARCHING BAND SNARE. I HAVE A 64' LUDWIG 10X14 SNARE. I GOT IT RESTORED.
Drumsets:
Gretsch Catalina Maple (Evans G2 Clear)
84 Vintage Tama Superstar (Evans G2 Coated)
Snares:
Custom 64 vintage Ludwig Snare 10x14 (Remo Black Suede)
Mapex Black Panther Sledgehammer 6.5x14 (Evans HD Dry)
OCDP Maple Snare 5.5x14 (Evan HD Dry)
Cymbals:
Sabians
(Depends on the GIG)
There are some beautiful kits in here... and I've only looked through about 10 pages!
I had to move my set, so here is the progression of me setting things up in the new space:
Just the bass drum:
Adding hi-hat, snare, and double-bass pedal:
Rest of toms and cymbal stands:
Finally finished!
Geez after looking at these pics I just realized how badly my kit needs a dusting!
