    50's Gretsch 3ply shells
SNARE 6.5x14 1950 (stamped inside shell)
    FLOOR TOM 16" 1953 (stamped)
    BASS DRUM 22" 1951 (stamped)
RACK TOM 9X13 Original Cadillac Green 1954-58?

most of the shells came to me without some fo the hardware missing, or all in the case of the snare drum no hardware, and lots of work to be done on them. The rack tom I did nothing to - I did not want to alter it in the least - well - I did clean it gently and I did save all the gold hardware of course.

The Gold hardware on the rack tom was switched out for ere-correct hardware except for the new Brooklyn Series 302 Stickchopper hoops - they're on both toms. I have the rail-mount, cymbal mount and Pratt Mute for the bass drum but I didn't want to drill holes in the virgin bass drum shell.......too rare....too nice the way it is.

The paint (Cadillac Green) was matched from the original rack tom. A local painter painted the drums. I was going to plate the hardware gold but I like the chrome hardware and that choice saves me a ton of $$$$.

I put the Gold inlay on the hoops to match the gold hardware. Now that I will not be gold plating the hardware I'll be swithching the gold for either Silver or Green Sparkle. I will probably tuck calfhide heads on the drums.

Very beautiful Gary! The silver or green sparkle inlays would look great! You could even do chrome inlays. I vote for silver sparkle for the vintage look. A lot of love into that kit and it shows. Congrats on such a beautiful endeavor!

My Werco kit using a crash cymbal (Paiste 18" black label 2002) I've repaired which sounds great.

    Terrible.
I can hardly stand playing it.......

    Sarcastic guy aren't I haha.

It sounds pretty good. I still haven't figured out the best sound for it but I will. Right now I'm just playing with different tunings. It may help later when I get all the same heads on it. Right now I have Gretsch Permatone, EMAD, Gretsch Ebony, Evans G1&2 and Remo.......Most of them I had as spares for other drums. I bought this EMAD for this drum and a Gretsch Coated with 10 O'clock Logo is on it's way. But the drums will be amazing with calfhide I'm sure of it.

Better than your DW Performance kit?

No. The 17 x 20 kick really can't compete with the 18 x 22 DW kick when going for a fuller / deeper sound.

areFish - I love Yamaha drums of anykind. To me they always can be made to sound great. Your drums are looking great too - nice kit.

    Olimpass.
I love the finish on those. I recently bought a Star (now Tama) 1/2 of a bongo that looks to have that very finish. I picked it up in a ValueVillage outlet (second hand store) here in Nanaimo BC. I mean who wants 1/2 of a bongo? Well - I do....especially if it is a Star drum and even more especially for this finish. You never know where you'll find this good ole drum stuff hu.

Your drums look awesome man - wow!

I had the same thing when I set up the Export on a youth camp I did a few weeks ago. Hadn't pulled that kit out for about a year or so I'm pretty sure. It's nice for your ears to get a bit of a change isn't it?

Thanks kona! I believe the finish is called red agate pearl. I also have a Star Jr. kit with this finish but in blue agate pearl. Again, fantastic job on the caddy green kona kit!

    It indeed is.

Olimpass, it does seem to be a good match.

Been almost two months since the rack has been assembled. Asked a friend to come give me a hand and got most of it done. I think I will have to cut down my hi-hat rod to make room for the deccabons. They're still a bit awkward to reach but better than they were before.

That kit/setup looks amazing I love that white finish. Speaking of white have you thought about painting the octobans to match the kit?
