Haven't posted pics of my current set in a while. In these two I had just cleaned everything getting ready for a gig the next night. Can't carry everything, so I left all the other cymbals and a spare tom at home.

Nice kit! Did you add the leg mounts to the 14in tom and the ride?

I'd do it in a heartbeat -- wouldn't think twice about it.
Not only do they look fantastic, they also look super-fun to play.
    I gig regularly with a 5-pc. kit and 11 cymbals.................not a problem.

Thanks, DS. Yes, I removed the iso mount from the 14" tom and added the legs to make it a floor tom. The ride tom mount is the factory receiver using a single tom holder L-arm. That's a Pearl ISS mount temporarily in use on the ride tom until I make up my mind about which way I want to go there. I also added the ride cymbal L-arm and receiver to the right side of the bass drum.

I've been using the one-up, two-down tom configuration with bd-mounted ride cymbal since the 1960s. I feel totally out of place when sitting behind a kit that is not so configured!

Mapex Saturn IV in a rehearsal session. Probably the cleanest setup i've had. I tend to use a 4 piece now!

(Note I couldn't find the attachment button so i had to upload the image and put in a URL)

^I tried using those even patch things... couldn't get them to stay on the heads. Kept popping off.

I find that they don’t really do much. I’ll usually put a cymbal felt under them like on the 13” Tom on the left. I cleaned the spots with a bit of alcohol before sticking them on. When I get new heads I don’t think I’m putting them back on.

Is that a 24" ride Olimpass? I had a friend in college who had a 24" Zildjian. Biggest I've seen for a traditional lathed cymbal.

    It's a 28" noreastbob.
Biggest I've seen, crashed and played was a 30" Zildjian.

I ordered Sabian HHX Evolution Series 13" hi hats, 16", 17", 18", 19" crashes, 8" and 10" splashes. I currently have Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Crashes but I don't like the sound. Buying cymbals is expensive. LOL

Here is a pic with my current Zildjian setup. I have Sabians that will be here Tuesday. I will be swapping out all the crashes with Sabian HHX crashes. Moving the 14" Zildjian Hi Hats to an X-hat over near the ride cymbal and will be replacing the hi-hats with 13" Sabian HHX hi hats. Also adding 2 more splashes.

That’s insane, and I love it.
Does that kit see much time out of the house? Looks like it would take forever to set up and tear down. I usually take a condensed version of the drums out to play, but like to have all my toys when I’m home.

That’s awesome! How do you like those air splashes?
