    Thanks guys,

The session was for a rock/grunge band we recorded an 11 track album with legend Steve Albini at his studio Electric in Chicago. The session was a big challenge due to a lack of funds so the whole album had to be recored and mixed in 5 days. Every track had to be nailed pretty much first time, We did it taking 1 day to get sounds 2 days to recored all the tracks and then a further 2 days of mixing.

The kit was a classic DW kit using 24" kick drum, 15" rack tom, 16 & 18" floor toms.

The cymbals were all Ziljian, 19 and 20" crashes A & A Custom, 21" Dark K ride and 15" A master sound Hi Hats.

The snare was the best bit. I used two snares on the album both vintage and original. First was a 1920/30's Ludwig black beauty 14"x5.5" which was found in a junk shop and bought for 50 dollars!!! and a 1970's 400 series ludwig steel snare (sorry no pics of that).

Hardware was all DW with the exception of my Pearl Eliminator belt driven pedal.

I use Vic Firth 'Mat Cameron' signiture sticks and hit very hard!!!

Here are a few more pics of the session.

I own a Birth Pearl Masters I'll stick some pics of that up as well.

xpkpremier, it's just an old Pulse kit I'm selling. Waiting on a guy to get back to me about it, too.

Yeah, tah821. Those are the Ahead 5A's. Great sticks, actually. I love 'em. If they hold up like they're supposed to, I may keep 'em for a long time.

I don't know where to begin...

First, send links to the music. Steve Albini = legend = amazing drum sound.

Second, how did those sizes sound on tape? I recently bought some Luddies in those exact sizes and I'm wondering if they are just too darn big.

Third, I knew that snare was something special. I couldn't tell what it was, but sitting next to DW's in that kind of studio meant it had to be a winner.

I'd love to hear the finished recordings!
