My drums are all over Drum Videos but I haven't set the Crystal Beats up yet. They have been sitting in my living room for a couple of months.

Those are pretty cool. The size is deceptive basing it on the bottom picture. Maybe it's the 6 lug setup?

Thanks, yes on this vintage MIJ kit, each drum is a 6 lugger.
    I guess the pic is deceptive but they’re 12, 14, 20. 14x5 snare.
What’s weird is that bass drum cymbal/ride mount. It’s too far away. Like a strained reach too far away. Especially if you want to hit the bell...etc. Don’t know why it was made that way.
I use a boom stand for ride comfort.

Same kit as above but with a 28” ride.

It looks like the BD spurs are almost center of the shell. Could the drum be turned 180? After typing that, it would make that post too close to the snare....but maybe that's then used for percussion items like maybe a small cowbell, chime or mini splash? Maybe hold your Corona Virus mask when not being worn?

LOL, if nothing else it would be almost perfect for a left handed drummer.

Thanks Bish, Hahaha, that first picture of the 3 is deceiving. An illusion. I laugh because yesterday I thought the same thing from that picture and checked. The spur does looks like it’s in the center but it’s not. The hot dog rail (Consolette) is closer to the batter side also.

    Well, crap. lol

I wonder if you can find a boom arm only that'll fit the post hole? Otherwise, I agree about the separate stand. Kind of a shame.

    Thank you Bish.
I’m sure I could find some bendable rod stock, custom bend, thread the end...etc., that’d work. A future project.
For now I’m happy with the extra stand.

I believe the reason it’s placed so far forward is for weight balance. With such a small, light BD, the weight of the ride cymbal needs to be placed over the spur. They get pretty tipsy otherwise. Especially with vintage pedals that don’t have a solid base plate....as well as narrow spurs and the single tom hanging off console rails. I had to deal with the same issues when I built my first vintage Taiwan kit and added a rail mount.

    And you said 28” ride?????

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

Thank you Brian, It doesn't seem tipsy with nothing mounted there now? Anyway I'd probably do what I've mentioned above as a project.
Yes, I have a 28" Sabian AA Medium ride on a boom stand in that pic. You can see it's double the size of the 14" floor tom. I have another pic in my albums.

Recent purchase. An MIJ stencil kit made by Pearl. Meranti wood aka Luan. Gold satin finish wrap. Since these pics, I’ve put on a few missing swivel nuts, reso heads and rims on the toms. Just waiting on a 20” bass reso. I couldn’t resist for the price.
    Fun stuff.

You don't see many bottomless heads these days. What was the price?
